Terms of Service (Kikis)

These Terms govern your use of Kikis ("the Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. Purpose

These Terms set out the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between Kikis (the operator) and members regarding our AI-powered language learning service.

3. Service Tiers

  1. Free: 1 vault, up to 20 kikis, 5 daily searches
  2. Basic ($9.99/mo or $99.99/yr): 150 kikis, 20 daily searches, A1–A2 articles
  3. Premium ($14.99/mo or $149.99/yr): 3 vaults, unlimited kikis, all levels
  4. 7-day free trial offered on first signup to a paid tier

Features and pricing may change with at least 30 days' notice.

4. Accounts

  1. Members must provide accurate information at sign-up.
  2. Members are responsible for the security of their own account.
  3. Accounts may not be transferred or shared.
  4. We may suspend or delete accounts that:
    • Violate these Terms
    • Harm other members
    • Disrupt normal service operation

5. Subscriptions & Payment

  1. Auto-renewal: Subscriptions auto-renew at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
  2. Payment processing: Apple App Store and Google Play Store handle payments. Disputes are subject to each store's policies.
  3. Refunds: Refunds are governed by each store's policy. Kikis does not directly process refunds for unused subscription time — please use the App Store / Google Play refund procedure.
  4. Trial auto-billing: At the end of the 7-day free trial, the subscription is automatically charged unless cancelled before the trial ends.

6. Member Conduct

Members must not:

  1. Steal another's personal information or account
  2. Insult, harass, discriminate against, or threaten other members in community features (Connect, etc.)
  3. Post obscene, violent, discriminatory, or illegal content
  4. Use the Service via automated tools, scraping, or other abnormal means
  5. Intentionally distort or abuse AI responses (e.g., to generate inappropriate content)
  6. Infringe on Kikis's intellectual property (trademark, logo, design)
  7. Interfere with normal Service operation

7. Intellectual Property

  1. All rights in Kikis itself, the Kiko character, logos, designs, and other branded content belong to the Kikis operator.
  2. Member-created Connect posts and comments remain the member's copyright. Kikis holds a non-exclusive license to use them as needed to operate the Service (feed display, search results, moderation, etc.).
  3. AI-generated content (translations, kiki definitions) may be used freely by both the member and Kikis.

8. Limitations of AI Responses

  1. Translation, expression analysis, pronunciation evaluation, and content generation are produced by AI (Google Gemini, etc.).
  2. AI responses are for reference only; accuracy and completeness are not guaranteed.
  3. Members should not rely solely on AI responses for important decisions.
  4. Kikis is not liable for outcomes resulting from AI responses.

9. Service Interruption / Termination

  1. Kikis may temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance, updates, etc., generally with advance notice.
  2. If Kikis permanently terminates the Service, we will give at least 30 days' notice and provide a way for members to export their data in JSON (or similar standard format).
  3. Free accounts inactive for 24 months or more may be deleted after prior notice.

10. Limitation of Liability

  1. Kikis is not liable for damages arising from acts of God, third-party service outages (Supabase, Google Gemini, etc.), or member negligence.
  2. Kikis's liability is limited to the direct amount paid by the member for the Service.
  3. Where law or these Terms do not limit liability, §10.2 does not apply.

11. Dispute Resolution

  1. These Terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Korea.
  2. Disputes are first attempted to be resolved by negotiation; if not, members may file at the Seoul Central District Court or their local jurisdictional court.
  3. EU/UK members may file at their local jurisdictional court.

12. Changes to These Terms

  1. Kikis may modify these Terms as needed.
  2. Material changes will be announced in-app or via email at least 30 days before the effective date.
  3. Members who disagree with changes may discontinue use and close their account.
  4. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the changes.
